This novel takes place many centuries before Equilibrium<\/a> and details the events of the Spirits themselves and their dealings with mortals before they decided to desert the mortal plane altogether.<\/p>\n

The story follows Thraine vor Enereng in his duties as a Peacekeeper, a Spirit who regularly travels to the mortal plane to protect innocent lives in an age of warfare. Being an extremely proficient Peacekeeper, however, has gained him more than a few enemies within his own ranks, enemies who attempt to frame him for the worst crime in their order\u2014the murder of a mortal.<\/p>\n
