Luckily for us, this one is easier than most.<\/p>\n<p>current (noun)\u2014a separate body of water or air that is moving in a different direction to the rest; or an electrical surge<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  <em>\u2018Don\u2019t swim out too far!\u2019 the coast guard warned. \u2018The current is very strong out there.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>  <em>In this complete circuit, an electrical current flows all the way to the light bulb.<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>current (adjective)\u2014at the present time<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  <em>The current bus timetable was pinned to the wall.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>  <em>\u2018I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll stay in my current job much longer,\u2019 Amy said.<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>currant (noun)\u2014a dried variety of grape<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n  <em>Josie picked out all the currants from her cereal and put them aside.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>  <em>\u2018We have a currant bush growing in our backyard,\u2019 Tom said proudly.<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s pretty safe to say that, in your writing, you will need to use <em>current<\/em> a great deal more than <em>currant<\/em>, so familiarise yourselves with the spelling of the former.
